Rich, gourmet hot fudge sauce topping that will cost you less that $2.00 per half pint to make. The sauce makes a terrific Christmas gift paired up with ice cream dishesand sprinkle and candy toppings.
2-1/2 cups half and half or light cream
32 oz semisweet chocolate
1-3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Half Pint Jars with Lids and Bands
1.) In a 4 quart Dutch Oven or large saucepan combine semisweet chocolate, half and half or light cream and sugar. Broil to a boil; reduce heat.
2.) Simmer the sauce, uncovered, over low heat until creamy about 2-3 minutes. Stir frequently.
3.) Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
4.) Pour the hot fudge sauce into seven hot and clean half-pint jars leaving 1/2″ of head space. Mixture will thicken as it cools.
5.) Place covers and bands on jars. Cool.
6.) Store in refrigerator.
1.) Place the sauce from the jar into a glass measuring cup or bowl and place in microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Pour over ice cream.
The hot fudge sauce ice cream topping will last 3 weeks stored in the refrigerator.
Make spirited hot fudge sauce by reducing the half and half or light cream above to two cups. Stir in 1/2 cup of cherry, mint, hazelnut or orange liqueur with the vanilla.
