Pottawatomie Rock Island Lighthouse
The Pottawatomie Rock Island lighthouse has been on my list to photograph for a while. But it takes two ferry rides from the mainland of Door County to get to, so I had been putting it off. Pottawatomie Lighthouse, is also known as the Rock Island Light was lit in 1836, it is the oldest light station in Wisconsin and on Lake Michigan.
Finally, the chance presented itself to me. My husband suggested that we take our boat from Green Bay up to Rock Island, so we did.
We docked and quickly grabbed our firewood for the night before hiking the 1-1/2 mile pathway through the woods to the lighthouse. Perfect timing, right before sunset. We had a chance to walk the grounds and for me to take a few pictures before night set in.
