This sweet and sour red cabbage recipe satisfies your taste buds. The apples and sugar give the recipe it’s sweetness and the vinegar gives the mixture the sour punch. To add a little more color, add a few piece of shredded carrots.
Yields 10 servings
1 large head red cabbage, finely shredded
8 apples, peeled, finely chopped
Shredded carrots for additional color
1 cup vinegar
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
Mix cabbage, apples, carrots, vinegar, water and sugar in heavy saucepan; cover. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer 3 hours. Let stand until cool. Chill until serving time.
