How To Check Your Heart Rate During Exercise

1. Stop momentarily.

2. Take your pulse for 10 seconds by using the tips of your first two fingers on the inside of your wrist over your blood vessels.

3. Multiply this number by 6 to calculate your beats per minute.


Finding Your Optimal Range

Use the chart below as a guideline as an average target heart rate. Find your age and move across to the first row “Target HR Zone 50 – 85%”, you will want to stay within this range to burn optimal calories.

Start Slow

If you are just starting a fitness routine it is important to start slow If you’re just starting out on an exercise program, keep your heart rate at the lower end of your target heart rate zone. You can gradually work up to a higher intensity level through the month.

Talk To Your Doctor About Medications & Conditions

◙ A 41-year-old would look like this 220 – 41 =179.  179 beats per minute the maximum your heart should beat.
