Parrish Highlands
Setting out to find the trailhead to the Parrish Highlands ATV Trail in Langlade County Wisconsin this morning. This is a trail system we have not ridden yet, but are in hopes of finding some good riding and fall colors.
The Parrish Highland, Langlade County area has 53 miles of trails and links up with Lincoln County trails (Harrison Segment) and Oneida County (Enterprise System) and Forrest County segments. You could literally ride the trails for days up here!

Trail Passes
I am often asked if there is a fee for riding ATV trails. Wisconsin law requires those who use Wisconsin ATV trails to display either Wisconsin registration or apply for an ATV trail pass. The trail pass may be purchased online at the WDNR, over the counter at any license sales location, or by phone at 1-877-945-4236.
- $35.00 non-resident ATV trail use pass ( I believe it for a year).
- An ATV trail pass is required to operate an ATV (Unless you have a registered WI ATV).
Be sure to ask WDNR for any changes to the above information.
On Site
Parking
We parked at the County T trailhead in Parrish, WI which is located in the northwestern part of Langlade County.
There weren’t any issues with parking within the gravel parking lot, it is generously spacious. We were parked toward the middle of the parking, as you can see a picture below with the UTV on the trailer and the wide-open space behind it.
Bathroom
On-site, there are bathrooms with pit toilets. A welcomed sight to my pea-sized bladder, and also for changing out of muddy clothing at the end of your ride.
ATV Wash Station
Something I have never seen at any additional ATV trailhead before today (in Wisconsin) – they have a washing station. You can drive up on the grate and use the hose to rinse off your ATV. A big THANK YOU goes to the person that thought of including this gem on the property.

Know Where Your Going
I recommend that you always have a printed map for the trails you will be riding. You can usually purchase a map at local gas stations or print one before you leave.
There are plenty of apps and online resources for you to use, however, that isn’t going to help you when you do not have battery power for your phone or cell service in thick tree cover.
Must Have Gear
Below are additional items we have used. We consider them extremely important to have if you will be making multiple trail trips. If you can’t afford to purchase all the items upfront, budget for them in the coming year and purchase them. You will be extremely happy when you need to use them.
Tow Rope
Tire Plug Kit
Towing and winching purposes. They come in handy in cases where your winch breaks down. If my husband reads this he will be impressed I used the term winch, instead of wench.
He let me go all day retelling my wench story with a smile on his face. He finally told me at the end of the day the word is WINCH. Damn it!
Tire Plug Kit – Almost every repair can be done on the trail. Ream, lube, plug, and seal with rubber cement. IT WORKS.
Believe me, at some point you will thank me for the suggestion.
Portable Air Compressor
Portable Jump Starter & Charger
Portable Air Compressor – Excellent for adjusting air pressure, refilling tires, or blowing up air beds for camping.
Jump Starter for ATV / UTV – Charge your cell phone, tablet, and rechargeable flashlights too.
