Obsession With The Rust
Do you have an obsession with something? For me, I have an obsession with rust – something old, something rusty, something with history and a story. I find myself drawn to items that you can look at or picked up and imagine a person using. What was life like back at the time this item was used? The challenges the people faced?
I focus on how time changes items and the steps the world has maybe made for the better, or for the worse. Depending on how one looks at the item.

Lower Ore Dock Marquette Michigan
The lower ore dock in Marquette Michigan is a good place to stand during the early eve. A pastel coloring consumes the sky for an area that is most certainly a sunrise location over Lake Superior.
Belgian Brick by Brick
As part of my heritage I have found great pleasure in asking questions and seeking properties that still house some of the first settlers homes. I was on my way to Sugar Creek last week and decided to reshoot this old Belgian brick home and outbuilding.
Life’s up and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine your values and goals. Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want.
The things you go through in life, they make you. They shape every fiber of your being. Today, things have settled down. When I look back, I see why I have a greater appreciation for wildlife and nature. Neither ask anything of me, or judge. Peace and quiet. Centered by nature. A place I can breathe.

You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you. In that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.
Traveling the country roads from one state park to another on a recent trip to Tennessee, we came upon a bus graveyard.
(All photography is fulfilled by a contracted company. Read about this here. )
I could see many of the buses from the roadway and the grounds have clearly marked no trespassing. There was one place that really caught my attention, the see America bus.
We pulled over and I shot this from the road. The perfect message right here. You can see small pieces of America, one road trip at a time. For myself, life is all about adventure and I am just along for the ride.

White Star Psychic Church Brussels Wisconsin
Today’s topic is going to be a little different. Something I normally wouldn’t write about, nor would I endorse. And, SOME may even call me a little crazy for exploring; The White Star Psychic Church Brussels Wisconsin. But life is about experiences. Sometimes, walking in someone else’s shoes helps to understand and relate to someone else. We need this in life. Who knows, you may even gain knowledge, understanding, peace and even comfort in an unlikely place. Like this church has done for me.
What are these hidden treasures you may be asking? Old homesteads, barns, vehicles and antique gems. Places that hold stories within the walls and the equipment that reminds me of how much has changed over the past 100 years.
This tractor was one of two on an old cherry orchard property in Northern Door County was an excellent place to search for such treasures.
One thing I absolutely love about traveling is that it provides me with a constant source of education. Over the weekend, I attended The 4th Annual Spyder Rendezvous in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin with my husband. Heavy rain prevented me from riding with the group on Friday. I admit it, I’m a wimp and my dry car provided a comfortable alternative for the day’s travels. I spent some time exploring St Coletta Jefferson Wisconsin.

Old Farmhouse in Door County
Last year, my daughter and I made a trip up to the hunting grounds in Southern Door County, Wisconsin to meet up with my husband and some friends of ours. The guys had obtained permission to hunt a deer herd that had become an issue on piece of property with an old farmhouse in Door County. The herd was liquidating the farmers crop fields and corn storage cribs.
