Menominee Michigan Icy Shoreline

Happy New Year!  I expect great things to come in 2016!  I am not one for making resolutions for the upcoming year.  Personally, I believe they just set people up to fail.  Instead I’m setting goals.  One goal is to spend more time with my husband,  Exploring Menominee Michigan icy shoreline started the year off on the right foot.

Setting Goals for 2016

I gave up on losing weight. I’m fat and a little sassy, and I seem to like it this way.

Small, attainable goals that’s a whole new ball game.  Little goals that challenge me and build me up. Something that does  not set you up for failure or tear you down. Something that enriches your life. I’m trying to make small goals for health but what I REALLY need to do is spend additional time and focus on goals that make me happy.  Give me purpose.  Enrich my life and work toward providing inner peace in my struggling mind.

One goal that my husband and I set for ourselves before the new year was to put things on the calendar that allow us to spend time together, apart from our children.

Don’t get me wrong; we love our teenage children very much. We enjoy spending time together, but some day very soon, both of our children will be venturing out into the world to start lives of their own. Let’s face it, married couples seem to have a unhealthy balance for caring for their children’s needs over their spouses.

This year is the year of balancing out spousal time and child time.

On New Year’s morning we woke up to a text from our friend, Kelly telling us we needed to go and see a magical sight of icy goodness along Menominee Michigan’s waterfront, by the lighthouse.

If you are a friend of mine, you know I love being told about cool things.  If I get the chance to go and check it out, I will.

I handed the text over to my husband and to my surprise he said how about a road trip and lunch today?  Off we went.

Our first stop was Ogden Club on 10th Street in Menominee, Michigan for lunch. Quant little place, with excellent food and they have a build your own Bloody Mary bar from 10am-4pm.  It has Brussel sprouts, pickled onions, mushrooms, olives, pickles, celery, bacon, summer sausage, pepper jack & cheddar cheese, and cucumbers and your choice of our house made bloody mixes in spicy, mild, and or no spice!

Was able to partake in a game that I didn’t know existed.  Ever hear of Hammersloggin?  The game entails a hammer, nails, a thick slab of tree trunk and beer.  A great way to pass a few hours.

After our entertaining lunch date at Ogden Club, we drove straight down to the shoreline.  We spent hours slipping and sliding along the icy waters edge taking in the sights and of course, –getting some beautiful photos.

Everything around the lakeshore was encapsulated in ice.  Obtaining a picture like this took some sliding on my rear to the edge of the rocks.  Most certainly would not attempt the pier.  Close enough to the water for me.

Everywhere you turned there was something new to look at.  We found it interesting and walked slowly along the lakeshore.

Menominee Michigan Icy Shoreline was the perfect way to spend the first weekend of 2016.  Looking to many additional weekends of activities with my husband.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and fun filled 2016!
